Steps

  1. 01

Pick your starting point before you build a blueprint

    Do this

New client, new market, no suitable historical campaign: build fresh. An existing Search campaign with credible performance history: audit it, don't redesign a winner without evidence. A proven campaign that needs to launch in a new market or language: clone and adapt it, preserving what worked.

  2. 1a

New campaign: check your inputs before you build anything

    AI prompt
Using only my approved campaign brief, media plan, measurement plan and landing pages, extract: business objective, campaign objective, primary KPI, primary conversion, target markets, languages, budget, dates, products or services, landing pages, approved claims, and restrictions. Classify each as CONFIRMED, MISSING, AMBIGUOUS, or CONFLICTING. Identify any assumption I must not make. Do not invent targets, budgets, conversions, claims or dates.

    Do this

Don't build until every missing or ambiguous item is actually resolved, not guessed at.

  3. 1b

Existing winning campaign: audit it, don't just redesign it

    AI prompt
Review the attached Google Search campaign and the supplied performance evidence. First identify what appears to be working, what should remain unchanged, and what is not supported by sufficient evidence. Then identify: search term and query theme opportunities, ad group restructuring opportunities, match type opportunities, landing page opportunities, negative keyword gaps, and scaling opportunities. Use only: KEEP, TEST, EXPAND, REMOVE, HUMAN REVIEW, NOT EVIDENCED. Do not redesign a successful structure without evidence. Do not recommend changes purely based on best practice. Do not assume high impression share means strong performance. Do not invent performance results, search volumes or expected uplift. Do not approve the campaign. Finish with STRUCTURE CAN BE REUSED or STRUCTURE REQUIRES REVISION.
  4. 1c

Cloning into a new market: adapt, don't rebuild

    AI prompt
Use the attached high-performing Google Search campaign as the source blueprint. Preserve: campaign structure, ad group logic, keyword strategy, ad copy framework, and measurement framework. Review whether changes are required for: market, language, local search behaviour and query patterns, landing pages, currency, regulatory or claims restrictions, and local competitor density. Classify every recommendation as: KEEP, LOCALISE, REMOVE, ADD, HUMAN REVIEW, NOT EVIDENCED. Do not redesign the campaign unless the supplied local-market evidence requires it. Do not invent local search volumes, regulations or competitor behaviour. Do not assume a winning structure will perform identically in another market. Do not approve the campaign. Finish with READY TO CREATE LOCAL BLUEPRINT or LOCAL EVIDENCE REQUIRED.
  5. 02

Check your campaign structure before you build it in Google Ads

    AI prompt
Review my proposed campaign and ad-group structure against my approved inputs. For each campaign and ad group, identify its purpose and check whether the separation is actually justified by: objective, budget or target, market or language, product or service, brand vs. non-brand requirement, landing page, or creative theme. Flag fragmented campaigns, mixed-intent ad groups, duplicate keywords, overlapping themes, mismatched landing pages, and unclear naming. Use only: KEEP, MERGE, SPLIT, MOVE, HUMAN REVIEW. Do not recommend consolidation where legal, commercial, language or measurement requirements genuinely differ.
  6. 03

Check your keyword list before you upload it

    AI prompt
Review this keyword plan against my approved campaign structure. For each keyword assess: ad-group relevance, search intent, landing-page alignment, duplicate or overlapping coverage, match-type rationale, conflict with my negative keywords, and any local-language or spelling issue. Use only: INCLUDE, MOVE, REVIEW, EXCLUDE, CONFLICT. Do not generate search volume, CPC or forecasts unless I've supplied them. Do not assume broad match is appropriate unless conversion tracking and bidding requirements are confirmed. Do not approve competitor keywords.

    Do this

A keyword being broad match doesn't automatically make it wrong, don't let the AI treat 'broad' as a synonym for 'invalid'.

  7. 04

Check your ad copy and assets before submitting for approval

    AI prompt
Review these responsive search ads and assets against my approved claims, keyword themes and landing pages. Check: relevance to the ad-group theme, clear user benefit, call to action, duplication, unsupported claims/prices/promotions, contradictory combinations, spelling and grammar, local-language suitability, placeholder text, landing-page mismatch, whether this needs policy or legal review, and whether pinning any asset is genuinely necessary. Use only: PASS, EDIT, REMOVE, HUMAN POLICY REVIEW, NOT EVIDENCED. Do not invent offers, urgency, awards, savings, or performance claims. Do not claim policy approval, that's not something AI can confirm.

    Do this

Don't accept an invented claim or offer just because it reads well, if it wasn't in your approved claims list, it doesn't go in the ad.

  8. 05

Reconcile what you built against what was approved

    AI prompt
Compare my approved plan against this Google Ads Editor export. For every setting available in the export, give me: the approved value, the actual value, its status, and the evidence. Use only: MATCH, MISMATCH, MISSING, NOT EVIDENCED, NOT APPLICABLE. Cover account and campaign identity, campaign type, objective and conversion goals, budget and bidding, networks, locations, languages, dates and schedule, audiences, ad-group structure, keywords and match types, negative keywords, responsive search ads, assets, final URLs, and tracking parameters. Do not infer missing settings, and don't approve the launch, that's not your call to make.

    Do this

Keep the campaign paused first. In Google Ads Editor: Account → Export → Export selected campaigns and ad groups. A second pair of eyes should check the corrected campaign directly in Google Ads before it goes live.

  9. 06

Final check before you actually launch

    AI prompt
Review this final launch evidence: the reconciled setup, tracking test evidence, and policy/ad status. Check whether the evidence actually confirms: correct Search-only network setup, correct locations and exclusions, correct language and schedule, approved audiences, approved keywords and negatives, approved ads and assets, valid landing pages and tracking parameters, a successful measurement test, and that any policy issues are resolved. Use only: PASS, BLOCKER, HIGH RISK, NOT EVIDENCED. Missing evidence is not a pass, don't let anything through on an assumption.

    Do this

This is the last check before spend goes live. If tracking hasn't actually been test-fired, that's a blocker, not a formality to skip because everything else looks fine.
