Reach

The number of unique users exposed to an advertisement or campaign.

Media BuyingFoundationSource: MRC

Definition

The number of unique users exposed to an advertisement or campaign.

Why it matters

Reach measures breadth of exposure, distinct from impressions (which count repeat exposure too) — the two get conflated constantly in casual reporting.

Key consideration

A campaign can show a huge impression count against a small reach number, meaning the same small audience is being hit repeatedly — check frequency alongside reach before assuming broad exposure.
